Here at the Suttons Group, a long standing and successful global logistics provider, we have the opportunity for an Operations Manager to join our expanding team based in Harwich, Essex.

As an Operations Manager at Suttons, you’ll be fundamental to the continual delivery of high quality, cost effective, international logistics services maximising the safety, commercial and financial performance of the operation. You’ll be influential in achieving our objectives in line with Safety, Quality, Cost, People, Delivery and Cost targets.

You’ll be fundamental in the continual drive to achieve and sustain 'best in class' operational performance within budget whilst delivering 'continuous improvement' initiatives and ensuring all health & safety targets are exceeded.

Benefits:
A successful candidate will be looking at a salaried base of around £40,000 to £50,000. Suttons operate a very healthy car allowance with 33 days holiday (25 + bank holidays).

Experience and Knowledge:

• Experience: CPC qualified and any further relevant qualifications would be advantageous.
• Operational experience
• A strong knowledge of transport and Health & Safety legislation is crucial to the role to ensure that all operational practices are in line with Company Health & Safety policies and to ensure that regular Health & Safety audits are conducted.
• Good organisational skills and effective communication skills will be essential in order to deal with staff/customers at all levels within this busy environment.
• People Management skills, Good understanding of operations, Commercially & operational focused

Responsibilities
• Ownership of one or more customer relationships and conducting Customer review meetings.
• Develop an understanding of all direct reports roles and be responsible for the performance and succession planning for these roles.
• Leadership of the administration team, this will include creating a high performance environment and ensuring development plans are in place to maximise and identify ongoing growth opportunities.
• Ownership of commercial profit and loss for all contracts.
• Responsible for adherence to all H&S and compliance requirements.
• Ensure tachograph cards are downloaded for analysis weekly & that infringements are highlighted to drivers & appropriate action taken where required.
• To manage driver availability and authorise driver holidays/absences
• Take an active role in the wider business including projects, supporting other Operations Managers, implementations and business development in particular with existing customers.
• Ensure compliance of transport Legislation and that Company Rules and Regulations are adhered to, ensuring appropriate action is taken if these policies and procedures are not followed.
• Complete investigations into any failures relating to compliance, H&S breach, misconduct etc. and that conclusions and preventative actions are communicated to all parties involved
• Coordinate internal investigations into customer complaints ensuring that timely/full investigations are carried out and that conclusions and preventative actions are communicated to all parties involved
• Manage and plan for operational requirements against forecast and demand.
• Initiate changes designed to improve control and efficiency of traffic Department
• Produce reports on KPIs and Objectives as set at a strategic level.
• Supporting strategic projects and initiatives.
