About Us

ACH (Ashley Community Housing) is a social enterprise that provides a range of integration and support services for refugees. During the past ten years, we’ve grown from a small-scale housing organisation to a leading provider of integration, employment and housing services for refugees and newly arrived communities in the UK.

Through our training subsidiary, Himilo Training, we are successfully expanding our services to deliver training, development and employment opportunities to the broader communities in which we operate.

We are currently looking for a Facilitator to join our team in Bristol on a part time basis to support and deliver the Refugee Entrepreneurship Pilot project. This project aims to increase the rate of small business formation and business success for enterprises set up from within refugee communities.

Your Rewards

- Salary of £26,000 pro rata
- Free parking
- Paid company sick leave
- Company pension after probation period
- 20 days’ holiday pro rata + Bank Holidays
- Claimable expenses for any work-related travel

This is the ideal role in which to use your knowledge of running a business to make a real impact on entrepreneurs within the refugee community.

You’ll be providing an incredible service, delivering business support in new and innovative ways, ensuring refugees have a strong foundation and tools to become successful and build better lives for themselves.

You will give entrepreneurs from less developed economies the opportunity to flourish in a market you have prospered and grown in.

Your Role

As a Facilitator, you will be tasked with delivering the Refugee Entrepreneurship Pilot project, coaching, providing guidance and support to potential entrepreneurs within refugee communities.

Working with individuals and small enterprises, you will educate them in legislation and regulation and the development of products or services. You will also teach them about market research, marketing, cash flow and premises management, human resources and finance.

Your role will also involve:

- Delivering business triage sessions, fireside chats and face-to-face coaching sessions
- Using mainstream channels and social media to engage with the client group
- Signposting entrepreneurs to specialist sources of support and assistance
- Maintaining relationships with existing business support organisations and initiatives
- Working with community leaders and organisations to ensure access to the pilot
- Tracking key information on current offerings of business support in the West of England
- Supporting the organisation and running of events

About You

To be considered as a Facilitator, you will need:

- Experience and knowledge of setting up and running a business in the UK, with at least three (preferably five) years’ trading experience
- Previous experience of working with small and medium size enterprises from a variety of industries and backgrounds, ideally including refugee/migrant communities
- Sound knowledge of business legal requirements and business planning process
- Knowledge of Bristol markets and supply chains
- A commitment to empowering refugees, providing advocacy and culturally sensitive support

Experience of working with refugees and/or asylum seekers would be beneficial to your application, as would an understanding of the welfare benefits system.

Other organisations may call this role Advocacy Officer, Refugee Support Officer, Community Officer, Project Manager, Entrepreneurial Development Officers, EDO, or Entrepreneurial Development Specialist. Business Mentor, Business Trainer, or Business Tutor.

We would also be interested in hearing from you if you have held the position of CEO, Founder, Managing Director, MD, Business Owner, Managing Member, or Director of Operations

This role is 22.5 hours per week to include some ad hoc evenings when required. Hours can be worked across three or four days, with core hours to be agreed between 9am – 6:30pm.
