About the role
GK Apprenticeships is looking for people to join an Institute of Learning Management (ILM) accredited level 3 IT, Web and Telecommunications apprenticeship. This apprenticeship will last around 18 months and will be a blended training and development programme and be supported by the world's largest technical training provider - Global Knowledge.
Your day to day role will be to build brand loyalty by taking ownership of technical issues and providing consistently unique customer experiences. You’ll speak to around 30 customers a day, providing solutions on Home Phone, Broadband, Fibre and Mobile products - using some of the newest technologies on the market.
This will include:
- Dealing with issues relating to ADSL, FTTC, wireless and basic networking skills (IP addressing, DNS etc.)
- Learning to use the art of questioning to identify problems such as ADSL, FTTC, PSTN, wireless and email setup issues
- Troubleshooting PSTN faults like no dial tone or noisy lines
- Learning to set up and troubleshoot wired or wireless broadband connections
- Troubleshooting and providing solutions on both the 2.4 and 5 GHz frequencies, including 802.11 G, N and AC routers
- Working with Android, IOS and Windows operating systems
- Looking to resolve any issues with 2G, 3G and 4G mobile networks
- Learning how to understand Broadband networking (Copper/Fibre) and Voice (Digital lines/VOIP)
- Using effective questioning to ascertain whether a customer should be classed as vulnerable and updating their account accordingly
- Assisting other areas of the business with tasks such as taking payments and booking meter exchange appointments with the customer.
You won't have to be a total technical guru or have lots of industry experience to join this apprenticeship. You'll learn everything you need to become part of their award-winning technical team - and their caring, supportive training team will support you to understand how their services and technology works.
When you join our client, you’ll receive six weeks of training on how their services work, and how to troubleshoot effectively. After this you’ll join their technical academy and work with some of our most experienced technical coaches and advisors; who will help you evolve into a fully-fledged Technical Advisor and in becoming a desirable talent in the industry.
The key thing our client is looking for is people who genuinely enjoy providing excellent customer service; have a real passion and enthusiasm for all things technical; the willingness to learn and most meaningfully a "can-do attitude".
What our client offers
Your starting salary will be £18,500 and you’ll receive an increase of up to £1,500 each time you hit one of two milestones in the programme. Once you have completed the programme you’ll receive another uplift in salary to £23,000! And that’s not all, you’ll earn monthly bonuses too – up to 10% of your salary.
