We’re currently looking for a Contracts Supervisor to join our team at the Waterdale Waste Transfer Station site and Hitchin Waste Transfer Site.

The Role

As a Contracts Supervisor, you will supervise operations at the Waterdale Waste Transfer Station site and Hitchin Waste Transfer Site.

Working with the Site Manager, you will also oversee that the site runs in a cost-effective manner in accordance with group policies, permits and contract, and in compliance with all statutory regulations and requirements.

Supporting the Transport Manager, you will supervise drivers to ensure that loads are taken out safely and efficiently, that the most suitable routes are taken to disposal points. You’ll ensure tachograph infringements are monitored and reduced and that vehicles are maintained regularly and in line with the O-Licence.

Your role will also involve:

- Managing plant and resources, including site operatives
- Ensuring all plant equipment is operated, inspected and maintained
- Operating the weighbridge systems
- Training and mentoring site operatives
- Developing, installing and maintaining work schedules and rosters

About You

To be considered as a Contracts Supervisor, you will need:

- Previous experience of working in a waste, logistics, transport and/or maintenance operation in a team leader and/or supervisor capacity
- Experience of driving and operating HGVs
- Experience in working in customer focused operation
- A valid and current CoTC - 4TSH
- Good communication and numerate skills
- To be computer literate

Familiarity with weighbridge operation and systems is desirable, as are management and/or supervisory skills. Knowledge of transport operations and legislation and waste transfer stations would also be beneficial to your application.

A flexible approach to working hours is essential as these vary seasonally. In addition, occasional periods of being on call or out of hours working will also be expected.
