Project Coordinator - LGBT Armed Forces, Veterans and Families
Manchester, UK

If you are passionate about supporting people and tackling loneliness, then we would love to hear from you!

LGBT Foundation is looking for a Project Coordinator to deliver an exciting new national project supporting LGBT armed forces personnel, veterans and their families.

The project seeks to address the loneliness specifically faced by LGBT armed forces communities, many of whom have traditionally been less likely to access support from mainstream military charities. The project will establish an enduring peer-support network for those individuals by supporting volunteer lead peer support and interactive networking.

The post holder will:

- Oversee and deliver the LGBT armed forces, veterans and families project
- Develop and deliver a befriending service to LGBT armed force personnel, veterans and their families
- Improve our knowledge and support offer for LGBT people who currently or previously served within the military and their families
- Develop and maintain excellent relationships, including with our delivery partners the Armed Forces Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity Networks and funding organisations
- Provide safeguarding support

We are taking positive action to encourage applications from people of colour (PoC) and other racially minoritised communities, trans, non-binary and/or older people (aged 50+), to improve the representation of colleagues from these communities in our team.

Additionally, as the role focusses on engagement with LGBT armed forces, personnel, veterans and their families, we believe lived experience and a broad understanding of the issues faced by this community will be valuable to the role.

* Trans is an umbrella and inclusive term used to describe people whose gender identity is different in some way from the gender they were assigned at birth; including non-binary people, cross dressers and all those who partially or incompletely identify with their sex assigned at birth.

- Salary: £23,823 pro rata
- Hours - 22.2hrs per week (0.6FTE)
- Annual Leave - 25 per annum plus bank holidays, rising to 30 after 5 years’ service (pro rata where appropriate)
- Probation period - post subject to successfully completing a six month probationary period
- Employers contributory pension - 10% of annual salary (applied the month following completion of the probationary period
- Remote working - The pandemic has taught us that remote working is advantageous to organisations for productivity and LGBT Foundation has adopted a strong agile working structure
- Special Terms: End date 31st March 2023 (subject to continuation funding)
- Reporting to: Community Programmes Manager
- Accountable for: Volunteers

Closing Date: Midday - 28th April 2021

Interviews: Wednesday, 5th May 2021 via Zoom
