They are now seeking a Laboratory Analyst to join them on a permanent, full-time basis.

The Role

As a Laboratory Analyst, you will prepare and analyse water samples in line with company protocols.

Reporting to the Laboratory Supervisor, you will be responsible for the general housekeeping of the laboratory and the prevention of cross contamination. You will ensure all Health and Safety procedures are adhered to and report any anomalous results or situations immediately.

It is essential in this role that you are able to communicate effectively with all employees and also be comfortable working in a busy environment.

Additionally, you will:

- Carry out accurate data entry and keep records associated with UKAS quality system
- Prepare media (agars etc.) to be used in microbiological analysis

About You

To be considered as a Laboratory Analyst, you’ll need:

- A minimum of six months experience working in a busy laboratory environment
- Experience of culture of microorganisms
- Knowledge of laboratory accreditation systems (ideally ISO 17025)
- To be computer literate with experience of MS Office applications
- To be educated to HND level in a relevant scientific pathway, as well as having GCSE English and Mathematics or equivalent

Experience of working with Excel would be beneficial to your application.

A full, valid driving licence is desirable.

Working hours are Monday to Friday, 8am to 4pm or 9am to 5pm. Once trained in post staff may be required to work as part of a shift pattern. This will usually be a five-day shift rotation (night shifts are not required), which will include weekends and public holidays.

You will be flexible in your working hours and overtime will be required at short notice during peak business demands during the week and at weekends.

Other organisations may call this role Laboratory Production Technician, Manufacturing Technician, Quality Control Technician, Lab Analyst, or Scientist.
