We are now looking for a Learning Support Practitioner to join us on a term time only 12-month contract, working 30 hours per week for 38 weeks of the year.

You will become an integral member of a friendly and dedicated team who are passionate about challenging and supporting people to make a positive change in their lives.

The Role

As a Learning Support Practitioner, you will support young adults taking part in the TOAST (Taking our Achievements and Successes Together) programme, a programme for
young people 16 - 24 to achieve and succeed into adult life and beyond through
education.

Supporting learners on a one-to-one basis or in small groups, you’ll help them to achieve their learning goals and develop independent life and employability skills. This will include English, Maths and IT skills, as well as supporting them in their vocational studies.

Due to the COVID 19 situation please note this role may involve some home working, however the main place of work will be Redruth, with some travel to St Austell.

Working alongside teaching staff, you will:

- Support learners in the classroom and offsite learning situations
- Help learners to develop independent study skills
- Take part in learner support plan reviews
- Help to monitor learners’ progress, behaviour and commitment
- Provide regular reports to the Young Persons Co-ordinator and/or Teaching Staff

In some instances, you may be required to support learners with personal care, personal hygiene needs and basic medication.

About You

To join us as a Learning Support Practitioner, you will need:

- Experience of supporting/working with learners with learning difficulties and/or disabilities
- A commitment to inclusive learning and the willingness to gain an understanding of students with Special Education Needs
- The ability to work with learners in groups and to adapt quickly to changing priorities
- A sensitive and caring approach to learners
- A Level 2 qualification in English and Maths (or equivalent) or the willingness to work towards this

A full, valid driving licence would be desirable for this role due to the travel required to support learners in Redruth and St Austell.
