Service and Product Designer

| £28,380 - £35,310 per annum

Employer: Blue Cross For Pets
Sector/Specialism: Charity

Service and Product Designer,
Permanent, Full-time
This role can be based in either of our sites in Radcliffe, Greater Manchester, Burford, Oxfordshire or London

What is the role?

You will be joining a brand-new department at an exciting time for the charity. In this role you will be responsible for the research, design and development of new services and products across the whole of the charity. You will work on the end to end process, supporting the projects from inception all the way to the launch stage.

This role will find you working closely with service and product owners from across the charity and helping them to apply a consistent, user-centred and test-driven approach to the way we develop and improve our existing offering. You will apply our Service Design Framework to understand how a service or product is used and then go on to generate new ideas or solutions which meet user needs.

You will be a subject matter expert in service and product design and within this role you will be required to support and guide others, coaching them in best practice and providing guidance rather than always taking the lead. Working in a small team, yet providing support for the whole charity, you will be skilled in prioritising work, agile in your working style and thrive in a busy environment.

If you would like to join a brand new team who can help us take our services and products to the next level, which ultimately will help us to help more pets, then this could be the role for you.

Your normal hours of work are 35 hours per week.

Want to know more the detail? Great! We have attached the job description which hopefully gives you everything you need.

What is required?
• Service design and design thinking philosophy; experience of the full end-to-end process would be preferable, but experience of a subset of this would be a minimum requirement.
• Being evidence-driven, particularly in terms of user context and needs, for example, being able to ‘read between the lines’ of what users say and do, through to how they actually think and behave.
• Excellent organisation-wide stakeholder engagement, including communicating information and updates to Executive Teams and other senior management groups.
• Project management and planning, and an ability to deliver work on time, on budget and to a proven high level of quality.
• Understanding of the commercial aspects of design, including management of costs and identifying and exploiting income-generation opportunities.
• Testing concepts and using measurements and data to analyse results and guide next steps.
• Being driven to find ways to fix or work around problems; taking a ‘solutions’ approach

It would also be great if you had:
• Designing and developing in both digital and non-digital channels.
• Collaborating with User Researchers on the research aspect of the design process.
• Supporting/coaching others to conduct the design process.
• Leading/facilitating workshops to deliver productive outcomes.
• Working in partnership with other organisations to effect positive change.
• The technical side of design, so that informed conversations can happen with the technical and enabling teams.
