We are now looking for a part-time Community Worker to join our teams supporting people across West Cornwall from one of our locations in Redruth or Penzance. This role is for a twelve month - two year contract, working 16 hours per week.

The Role

As a Community Worker, you will be tasked with supporting people across western Cornwall to access the services that will enable them to progress on their journey to wellness, learning or work.

As the first point of contact, you will engage with people, provide an initial assessment and utilise our resources to provide the support they need.

Working in the community in Redruth or Penzance, you will run group activities as well as provide one to one support, you'll work in a person-centred way to engage with the community.

Your role will also involve:

- Signposting service users to the appropriate resources and programmes
- Identifying appropriate community engagement activities in your location
- Setting up and running engagement activities
- Providing support to Change Coaches in the development of action plans, interventions and milestones
- Supporting a small number of participants on a 1-2-1 basis
- Helping participants with expense claims
- Supporting participants to complete any programme eligibility paperwork and evidence

Please note, as part of your role, you will be required to undertake some evening and weekend work.

About You

To be considered as a Community Worker, you will need:

- Experience of working with people with multiple and complex needs
- An understanding of how to overcome the barriers for people from disadvantaged communities and people facing multiple and complex needs
- An understanding of the need for confidentiality and equal opportunities
- Good customer service and interpersonal skills
- A creative approach to problem-solving
- The ability to arrange and deliver community activities and motivate people to make positive change
- An enthusiastic approach to engaging with new members of our community
- The ability to support people in emotional distress
- Computer and MS Office proficiency
- At a minimum, a Level 2 English and Maths qualification
- The flexibility to travel to different locations at short notice

Qualifications in advice and guidance, coaching, mentoring, community development or safeguarding would be beneficial to your application. Experience of virtual delivery of activities would be advantageous, as would the ability to arrange and deliver training workshops.

A track record of working in partnership with voluntary and statutory organisations would also be desirable, as would an understanding of community development. An understanding of the European Funding context would be equally desirable.

Other organisations may call this role Support Worker, Support Practitioner, or Community Support Practitioner.
