Job Summary

An exciting opportunity to join Certitude as a Support Worker (Life Enabler) as we continue to grow as a Social Care provider in London. Transforming Care is all about supporting people with learning disabilities and/or autism to live in their own homes, in the community, and most importantly closer to their family and friends.

About the role

The purpose of this role is to work as part of a team supporting a young man with Autism and complex needs and to ensure that he can grow and have a life that any person deserves.

Duties will include:

- Making a difference to the life of the person being supported
- Helping the person being supported to explore their hobbies and interests
- Helping to use a range of recovery oriented and person-centred planning tools
- Ensuring all plans and records relating to the people we support are accurate and up to date
- Supporting with everyday tasks to maximise the individual’s independence
- Working in a consistent and positive way with local managers and other team members to ensure a great service
- Undertaking various levels of personal care and manual handling

About you

To be a Support Worker at Certitude, experience is not essential. Full training will be given; however, the following are essential:

- You will need to have a ‘can-do’ resilient attitude and be committed to inspiring positive change in this young person’s life
- You will need to be engaging, patient, and be able to inject fun in activities and during everyday support
- Have a pro-active approach as no two days will be the same
- You will need to be creative, intuitive, and able to improvise when needed. If you have a curious mind and are solution orientated, we welcome you
- Be motivated to learn new skills and mentor your peers
- Be able cook and clean with meticulous attention to detail
- Be reliable and dependable as a team member
- Be able to work with S-AM’s family in a professional manner
- It would be an advantage if you were able to speak some Portuguese
- A background in sports, therapy or drama/music/yoga/tai-chi
- Ideally a full, clean manual driver’s license
- You must be an outgoing individual with a proactive nature
- It’s important you understand Autism and its complexities and unpredictabilities
- If you come from an artistic background, we would love to hear from you, as we would like to encourage these activities to take place with S-AM
