Survey Administration Officer (Part-Time, FTC)
Battersea, South London (with remote working options)

About Us

We are the Bat Conservation Trust (BCT), the leading non-governmental organisation devoted solely to the conservation of bats and their habitats. Our vision is a world rich in wildlife where bats and people thrive together.

Through education, collaborative action and scientific research, we inspire individuals and organisations to value and speak out for bats.

Our Bats in Churches Project aims to provide help and support to places of worship where bats are having an impact on historic fabric and the use of the building whilst safeguarding the future of protected bat roosts living in hundreds of England’s parish churches. Led by Natural England and funded by the National Lottery Heritage Fund, the project is a partnership between five organisations; Natural England, Church of England, Bat Conservation Trust, Historic England and Churches Conservation Trust.

We are currently seeking a part-time Survey Administration Officer to join our team on a fixed-term contract until May 2022 and help deliver this exciting project.

The Role

As a Survey Administration Officer, you will work with volunteers and church communities to encourage participation in National Bats in Churches Study surveys in the summer of 2022.

Joining a small, dispersed team, you will proactively contact churches about our citizen science surveys and match those interested in taking part with our volunteers.

Working with the project’s Training & Survey Officer, you will share the survey results from this year via social media, website, blog, newsletters and undertake spatial targeting work to maximise survey effort for next year.

Additionally, you will:

- Work with Church of England to encourage greater church uptake of the surveys
- Share the results from the surveys with bat groups
- Assist with the preparation of talks and promotions to different groups

About You

To join us as a Survey Administration Officer, you will need:

- Experience working with volunteers
- Experience of building effective relationships and networking

- Excellent organisational skills and the ability to plan and manage your own workload and meet deadlines
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail
- The ability to work well as part of a team
- To be proficient in standard IT packages including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Zoom

Knowledge of bat ecology and bat conservation needs would be beneficial to your application, as would knowledge of church organisations and church building structures. A basic understanding of citizen science would also be advantageous, as would experience of working remotely from colleagues.
