Head of Strategic Development and Growth

About Us

Empire Fighting Chance is a multiple, national award-winning charity based in Bristol but starting to work across the UK.

Its origins started in 2006 when the founders saw two young men dealing drugs in St Pauls and decided they wanted to try and change opportunities for young people.

We have grown from three volunteers to a team of over 30 and use innovative, evidence-based therapy and psychology, combined with non-contact boxing, to transform the lives of thousands of vulnerable young people every year. Our programmes inspire and challenge them to realise their unique potential.

Our approach means young people gain support in ways that feel natural, encouraging them to turn up, trust us and make positive changes in their lives. Despite the chronic adversity that they face, young people are returning to school, exiting gangs, getting work and feeling healthier and happier.

Due to a strategic five year investment, focussed on growth from a leading foundation, Empire Fighting Chance is at a transformative moment.

We have an exciting opportunity for someone to become a key member of our Senior Leadership Team.

This is an incredible chance to play a key role in a thriving charity that supports young people through an active and truly different approach. Every day, we help young people who are facing significant challenges in their lives such as mental health issues, chaotic home lives, difficulties at school or involvement in crime and yet we produce remarkable results. For example:

- 90% are more confident after working with us
- 78% report to not be committing any more criminal / anti-social behaviour
- 90% report better mental wellbeing

With the ability to work under pressure with minimal supervision, you will be responsible for taking us forward by setting the growth strategy in terms of working with partners and scaling key elements of the business.

Additionally, you will:

- Establish quality assurance structures
- Create partnerships with local schools
- Gather data and learnings, implement results and drive innovation
- Identify new opportunities to generate income from schools and other potential customers
- Line manage a team
