We’re now looking for an Area Manager to join our team on a permanent, full-time basis.

The Role

As the Area Manager, you will be tasked with overseeing a specific region in the UK, ensuring that all operational sites within the region fulfil their contracts and are successful.

Overseeing a range of waste management and recycling centres and operations, you will develop, manage and control the region's operations to achieve agreed revenue and profit targets. You will utilise efficient operating practices and excellent customer service, while overseeing and maintaining health and safety regulations on site.

Monitoring and controlling various projects, you will liaise with clients and ensure compliance with contracts and ensure that each operational site in the region has adequate resources in terms of plant, equipment, premises and personnel.

You will also:

- Develop, agree and implement management cost plans for all facilities in the region
- Provide leadership and direction to Contract and Site Managers through mentoring and coaching
- Liaise with the Materials and Trade Sales team
- Assist the technical team in the development and implementation of new techniques for waste management

About You

To be considered as an Area Manager, you will need:

- Experience in senior operations or a general manager role with a proven track record in achieving demanding targets for revenue, cost control, operating profit improvement and service quality in a competitive market
- A background in a manufacturing and/or processing industry, utility or customer service industry
- A proven track record in a senior management role
- Considerable previous involvement in business improvement and service enhancement initiatives
- A proven track record in achieving targets for revenue, cost control, operating profit improvement and service quality in a competitive market
- Familiarity with the design and operation of programmes which ensure compliance with company and externally defined standards, such as quality, health safety and environmental legislation
- A degree (or an equivalent qualification)

Experience of managing a unionised workforce would be advantageous to your application.
