We’re currently looking for an Assistant Shift Operator to join our team in Aylesbury on a permanent, full-time basis.

The Role

As an Assistant Shift Operator, you will ensure the safe and efficient operation of all production activities on-site, including an EfW high-pressure boiler, steam turbine generator and associated auxiliary plant.

Reporting to the Shift Manager, you will conduct first-line fault diagnoses to ensure the safe and efficient operation of the plant during steady state, start up, shutdown and emergencies.

You will undertake operational procedures to ensure that plant is in a fit and correct state for return to service following maintenance, an outage or other prolonged shutdown.

Additionally, you will:

- Ensure day-to-day compliance with all aspects of the environmental permit
- Carry out routine plant inspections and adjustments as required
- Undertake analysis of steam cycle chemistry and implement corrective actions to dosing and blowdown systems
- Respond to first line and breakdown maintenance requirements

About You

To be considered as an Assistant Shift Operator, you will need:

- Process industry experience and/or knowledge of power generation operations and maintenance associated with steam turbines, boilers, the balance of plant, electrical generation and distribution up to 33kV, plant control and instrumentation
- Practical operational and/or maintenance experience and knowledge
- Experience of working in a technically challenging environment
- A good understanding of HSE aspects
- An ONC, City and Guilds and/or NVQ Level 3 qualification in craft skill or process and/or thermal production operations or an agreed combination of technical qualification and experience
- To be computer literate
