We’re currently looking for a Mechanical Maintenance Craftsman to join our team on a permanent, full-time basis and support maintenance works at our site in Allington.

The Role

As a Mechanical Maintenance Craftsman, you will oversee the implementation and execution of all corrective, preventative and predictive maintenance throughout the plant.

Acting as the key liaison between the Mechanical and/or Electrical Team Leaders, you will ensure the Maintenance Department delivers a safe and efficient service to the site.

As part of your role, you will implement new maintenance techniques and procedures with the aim of increasing the overall plant availability in line with budget expectations.

You will also strive to introduce best practice and a ‘right first time’ philosophy in the Maintenance Department.

Ensuring all activities within the site are carried out in a safe manner, you will:

- Assist in the planning, execution and completion of the annual planned outages
- Supervision and/or liaise with sub-contractors
- Help develop and implement the CMMS (Computerised Maintenance Management System)
- Assist in the implementation of equipment upgrades and replacement
- Become actively involved in all statutory inspections of the plant and equipment

About You

To join us as a Mechanical Maintenance Craftsman, you will need:

- Experience with preventative and/or predictive maintenance techniques, including vibration analysis, laser alignment, thermography and oil analysis
- Crane maintenance experience
- Good knowledge of lifting operations and lifting equipment
- Previous CMMS experience
- Previous hydraulics experience
- The ability to manage numerous sub-contractors in a planned outage environment
- The willingness and ability to operate flexibly over a wide range of work areas
- An IOSH or NEBOSH safety accreditation
- Role based qualifications including rigger and/or slinger or mobile plant
- A recognised apprenticeship from a similar industry or a HNC in a mechanically biased subject

Ideally, you will have at least five years’ previous experience within the power, paper, cement or Energy from Waste industries. Experience of working with steam turbines and generators would also be beneficial to your application.
Other organisations may call this role Mechanical Craftsman, Mechanical Plant Technician, Mechanical Maintenance Technician, or Mechanical Engineer.
