The Company

This company aim to provide a world class broadband experience and are currently in the construction phase of an electronic communications network and infrastructure to provide gigabit connectivity over fibre to the premise (FTTP) to underserved rural communities in East Hampshire, Surrey Hills and surrounding areas. Using Openreach physical infrastructure (PIA) where possible to deploy fibre metro network via poles, ducts & cabinets to accelerate the fibre coverage across these rural communities.


The Position
Job Title: Apprentice Fibre Engineer
Apprenticeship Course: Level 3 Digital Communications
Apprenticeship Duration: 18 months
Location: Surrey, GU26 6AB
Working Hours: 40hrs per Week
Salary: £14-16k per annum, with opportunities for career progression as training advances.


Role and Responsibilities

Gain the very latest skills and knowledge, backed up by official certifications and qualifications to confidently install, test and certify fibre cable installations in an internal or external environment working to the correct standards and best practices whilst gaining valuable on-the-job-training.

This role will involve delivering a telecom network highway infrastructure supporting Fibre To The Home (FTTH) to the highest quality standards working in the Inside & Outside Plant (ISP & OSP) environment.

The installation, termination, inspection, testing and commissioning of fibre optic cables & passive/active equipment, including telecom distribution cabinets, network hardware, customer outlets, routers, switches and Wide Area Network (WAN) equipment.

Working on external pit and duct infrastructure, installation of sub-duct systems, overhead & underground fibre optic cable, dressing and planting telegraph poles.

Plan individual tasks and materials required accurately and with confidence
Undertaking performance-based testing and provision of certification.

Carry out maintenance and faults diagnostics & rectifications.

Assist design teams providing site survey information in support of the design process, this may include selecting pathways for containment routes, providing accurate measurements and details of obstructions to be considered.

On completion of project completion, provide accurate red-line drawings and collation of test certificates to support project closure.

Desired Qualities, Skills and Knowledge:

Minimum Qualifications - Maths and English at Level 2.
No previous work experience is required as full training will be given
