Our client requires a highly motivated and enthusiastic Clinical Team Leader to join their = Clinical Laboratory Services Team in an innovative international company in a growing industry that can provide career security and genuine advancement opportunities for those who show potential.

This position will be based in Liverpool.

Job Duties:

- The smooth and efficient running of the division, ensuring that all laboratory-based testing for clinical diagnostics and clinical trial samples is conducted accurately in conjunction with their standard operating procedures and in line with ISO/IEC 17025 (2005), and MHRA Good Clinical Practice guidelines
- The supervision of staff and the allocation of duties
- Ensuring that all members of the team are performing optimally according to their level
- The training and development of staff and the conducting of regular training reviews and Appraisals
- Providing advice and guidance on technical issues associated with clinical diagnostic testing and analysis of clinical trial samples
- Ensuring best practice in the provision of a clinical diagnostic service and keeping up to date with latest developments and trends in clinical diagnostics
- Ensuring that the analytical facilities and testing equipment provided by the division are maintained and developed in line with marked and regulatory needs
- Ensuring development of new test methods is established to be within, and fulfilling, regulatory requirements
-The establishment and maintenance of analytical procedures in conjunction with the division’s Quality Department and ensuring that these meet the requirements of the appropriate regulatory bodies and international standards
- Ensuring sound and secure chain of custody is maintained throughout the analytical process
- Ensuring that all Technical and Quality documentation and records of analytical results are fully completed, stored securely and archived as required
- Analysing and interpreting the analytical data generated by the laboratory prior to the release of results
- Ensuring that all the necessary quality control checks are completed daily and that they meet both internal and external criteria
- Liaising with the division’s Laboratory Manager in the review, confirmation and reporting of results
- The secure reporting of analytical results to the external client
- The generation, analysis and reporting of laboratory performance and productivity indicators
- Ensuring that all staff are working safely in accordance with company health and safety regulations
- Stock management and forecasting
- Monitoring of QC performance across clinical instruments and resolution of any IQC and EQA actions requested by the division’s Lab Manager and Quality Team
- Recording and monitoring of temperature for laboratory and equipment
- Conduct any EQA/IQC investigations when performance of a test method deteriorates
- QC assignments for clinical test methods
- Configuration of new QC material on LIMS
- Annual review of Test Method Uncertainty of Measurement
- Communication of critical results to the customer
- Assist in the management of non-conforming work identified within all of the division’s lab sites

The successful applicants must meet the following criteria:

Essential Skills:

- Ideally a BSc in Biomedical Science and Diploma in Professional Practice. Alternatively, qualified to at least degree standard in Biochemistry or a Life Science Degree (Minimum 2:1)
- Maintain professional membership of national and international societies such as ACB, BSH, IBMS and IFCC
- Experience in clinical diagnostic testing and reagent applications
- Working knowledge of quality systems (ISO17025, ISO15189, CAP, GCP)
- Demonstrate excellent leadership qualities
- Computer literate
- The ability to manage and motivate staff
- The efficient and effective use of resources
- The ability to interpret and analyse data and direct analytical projects accordingly
