The role

As a Utilities Operative, you will be responsible for the laying and repairing of all sizes of communication pipes, mains and ancillary water network apparatus. We’ll provide excellent learning and development opportunities and high-quality training including our Repair & Maintenance Bootcamp with Severntrent.

Working Monday to Friday day shifts, plus a standby rota of one in four weeks to cover out-of-hours work (evenings and weekends), for which the standby allowance and overtime will be paid

Some of your duties will include:

- Overseeing the work of the Trainee Utilities Operative
- Excavating and repairing of all sizes of pipe
- Loading and unloading materials, backfilling and reinstating excavations
- Taking part in an emergency 24-hour callout/standby cover as part of the rostered arrangement

About you

We’re seeking a Utilities Operative with:

- The willingness to learn
- A flexible attitude towards work
- A polite and responsive approach to any customer concerns
- Experience of working in a similar environment
- A Cat C1 driving licence

A EUSR water hygiene card would be beneficial to your application; however, we will provide on-the-job training if you do not possess this. Same with an NRSWA Streetworks Qualification including signing, lighting and guarding.
