Procurement & Supply Chain Manager

£65,000 to £70,000 per annum

You will be responsible for adding commercial value via the effective management of the procurement function, where possible maximising centrally procured arrangements and developing collaborative procurement opportunities to achieve efficiency and best value. You will have the opportunity to lead in our approach to Commercial Management, providing support to the business on key contracts. You will be able to identify resources required and build your own team which currently consists of one direct report as well as consultant and supplier relationships. You are a commercially driven procurement professional who seeks opportunities to enhance resilience within the supply chain whilst ensuring robust compliance procedures.

You will;

- Manage the procurement function, supporting the development of supplier sourcing and contract strategies.
- Ensure compliance with relevant procurement regulations (e.g. The Utilities Contracts Regulations 2016).
- Manage the commercial assurance programme, ensuring robust management and compliance with contractual processes is demonstrated by projects, ensuring value for money is maintained.
- Support with market research and pre-procurement engagement
- Lead the procurement process; pre-qualification, invite to tender, evaluation, negotiation and contract award.
- Lead on ‘Collaborate to Innovate’ activities, sharing best practice with other water companies
- Develop and maintain a central oversight of the supply chain in order to identify opportunities for increasing commercial value, enhance resilience, ensure compliance and focus on suitability.
- Develop a robust approach to Commercial Management and embed this across the business to ensure effective partnerships with key suppliers that is to the benefit of our customer’s.
- Chair the procurement forum to co-ordinate procurement activities across the company.
- Maintain a central oversight of the supply chain, identifying opportunities for increasing commercial value, resilience, compliance and suitability.

About You:

You will hold a suitable commercial management or procurement qualification such as CIPS, ILM or ICM and knowledge of procurement and contract strategies, tendering and procurement processes as well as knowledge of the Utilities Contracts Regulations 2016 and other relevant legislation.

You have experience within a relevant position with skills that are transferrable to the water industry and demonstrable experience in improving commercial value for money.

You will also have the following skills;

- Management and leadership with the ability to influence internal and external contacts to ensure commercial success
- Demonstrable negotiation skills and capable of high standards of written and verbal communication as well as presentation skills
- Proactive and able develop relationships at all levels of the business.
- Able to make effective decisions and exercise independent judgement.
