Olleco is on a mission to help protect the planet, working together with thousands of foodservice businesses to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by hundreds and thousands of tonnes. We are now looking for a Payroll Officer to join our team and help us to continue to do things the right way for customers, colleagues and the planet.

With over 1,000 colleagues in multiple sites nationwide delivering excellent performance, we supply premium cooking oils and collect organic waste, which is then converted into bio-methane, electricity, heat and organic fertiliser. We offer the human touch with local, community-based depots which seek to give back to those communities every chance we get.

As a Payroll Officer based at our offices in Northampton, you will be responsible for processing weekly and monthly payrolls in conjunction with the payroll bureau along with all associated monthly and annual payroll-related tasks. You will be a fundamental part of our team, enabling us to continue with our mission to serve the planet, a purpose we care strongly about and are committed to.

In this standalone role, you will have primary responsibility for processing our payrolls for 700 employees across 21 different business divisions. Providing payroll/benefits assistance, manual tax calculations and general payroll support, you will complete all month-end and year end payroll tasks.

This is a hybrid role working 3 days in the office and 2 days from home.

A little bit more about the role:

- Ensuring data is imported correctly to payroll and sense-checking data
- Producing payroll reports for Finance teams and issuing BACS files
- Completing weekly and monthly HMRC and Pension reconciliations
- Producing P32s by location
- Managing Auto-Enrolment pension scheme
- Creating cheque/BACS requisitions & letters to all authorities for AoE orders/DEA orders
- Administering the company’s monthly childcare voucher scheme
- Providing data for ad-hoc report generation
- Submitting responses to monthly online recruitment/vacancy/payroll statistics/COVID-19 Business Impact Surveys
- Managing correct set up of all employees, pay rates and pension criteria on Cintra.
- Managing voluntary payroll benefits (medical insurance and company cars)
- Producing data for the company’s annual PSA
- Reviewing year-end payroll data for submission to HMRC

What are we looking for? As you can imagine, you’ll need a broad range of personal skills to succeed, but we don’t expect you to have everything from the start! We will coach, train and support you, it’s more important that you have the right interpersonal skills and the intelligence to grasp our business and take us forward.

We will be looking for:

- Experience of processing payroll in-house or with a payroll bureau
- Intermediate Excel skills to manage various weekly payroll reporting and reconciliation spreadsheets
- High level of attention to detail and accuracy
- The ability to meet strict deadlines and work on your own initiative
- Analytical with the ability to sense check data and not just rely on data entered by managers
- The ability to manage changing priorities
- At a minimum, educated to GCSE level at grade A*-C (or equivalent) in English and Maths

A CIPP payroll qualification would be beneficial to your application. Experience of HR Software and Payroll Bureau software would also be advantageous.
