Events Manager
Home-based with the ability to travel to and work from Poole as required
c. £35,000 (dependent on experience)

About us

Our purpose is simple, to save lives at sea. Since 1824, our crews have been risking their lives to save those who are in danger of drowning.

We are a dedicated and experienced group of event professionals who bring a wide range of expertise to events at the RNLI.

We’re looking for two experienced Events Managers to join the National Events Team to support the delivery of a rolling programme of RNLI activity.

2024 will mark the RNLI’s 200th anniversary. This milestone will see an increased amount of event activity beyond the team’s normal workload. Both roles are available as permanent full-time positions, but we would consider one of the roles on a fixed-term contract of up to 23 months if this was desirable. Please advise your preference when applying.

The Role

As an Events Manager, you will be responsible for:

- Providing expertise on the design, build, management and production of specific RNLI events.
- Ensuring all events have a clearly defined “customer experience” that puts them at the heart of our events.
- Ensuring all RNLI events meet the required statutory compliance, and all event attendees (participants, volunteers and staff) are kept safe.
- Building and maintaining excellent relationships with a wide range of stakeholders including supporters, volunteers and suppliers.
- Leading the onsite delivery (build, operation and striking) of specific events and managing volunteers and staff that are supporting the activity.
- Understanding and interpreting event data to inform the development of future activities.

About You

You’ll be an experienced Events Manager able to support the development and delivery of impactful events, ideally with a background in third sector event management.
We are looking for someone who is equally adept at packing and transporting equipment to event sites as they are writing event plans and managing stakeholders. RNLI events take place anywhere in the UK or the Republic of Ireland, so we are looking for an independent individual that is happy to travel frequently for work.

To be considered for this role you will need:

- Experience in leading the planning and delivery of complex events e.g., mass participation events, awards ceremonies, online/hybrid events etc.
- Proven experience of working across multiple concurrent events and meeting deadlines.
- Experience with MS SharePoint, InDesign, Dynamics 365 and an IOSH or similar event safety qualification.
- Excellent communication skills (both spoken and written).
- Capability to build strong working relationships within the existing team but also with other internal and external stakeholders.
- A full, valid driving licence.

An event management qualification, ideally at degree level, would be beneficial to your application.

RNLI Events are exciting, inspiring and a lot of fun, but they don’t just happen. It takes meticulous attention to detail behind the scenes to produce amazing results.

If you are looking for a new opportunity, have the skills and experience we are looking for and this sounds like the job for you, apply today to join our CREW!

The closing date for this role is the 24th of July 2022.

Safeguarding

The RNLI is committed to safeguarding and ensuring the welfare of children, young people and adults at risk. We expect all employees and volunteers to share this commitment and have a zero-tolerance approach to proven incidents of bullying, abuse, harassment or exploitation. The suitability of all prospective employees and volunteers will be assessed during the recruitment process in line with this commitment. This will include relevant criminal record checks being carried out dependent on the eligibility of the role. (England & Wales; DBS check, Scotland; Disclosure Scotland PVG, Northern Ireland; Access NI, Republic of Ireland; Garda Vetting; International, International Child Protection Certificate process).

Diversity at the RNLI

Our staff and volunteers have been saving lives at sea without prejudice for nearly 200 years. We respect and value diversity of background, skills and perspectives within our teams, and consider it essential to help us deliver a world-class lifesaving service. We are an inclusive organisation and welcome applications from everyone. In addition to having the skills needed for the role, we also look for applicants who share our commitment to living our RNLI values (trustworthy, courageous, selfless, and dependable), and helping us work towards Our Vision: To save everyone.

Webrecruit and the RNLI are equal opportunities employers, value diversity and are strongly committed to providing equal employment opportunities for all employees and all applicants for employment. Equal opportunities are the only acceptable way to conduct business and we believe that the more inclusive our environments are, the better our work will be.
