The Position

Job Title: Support Technician Apprentice
Apprenticeship Course: Level 3 Information Communication Technician
Apprenticeship Duration: 18 - 20 Months
Location: Remote - Home Based with potential travel
Working Hours: Monday - Friday 8:30am-5pm or 9am-5:30pm
Salary: £18,000


Role and Responsibilities

This role isn’t your typical ‘Support Technician’ job, with a lot of elements that make up your day to day working pattern, giving rise to a breadth of skills you will be able to nurture and cultivate during your time with them. As part of being an Apprentice, they will give you exposure to a wide range of tasks and functions to ensure your day-to-day role is diverse and engaging. Whilst this role is home based, you may be expected to travel occasionally to office locations and to attend team days.

The Support Technician Apprentice will be working in a small team responsible for the architecture, engineering, development & support of monitoring platforms focused on Service Providers (Internet, Managed and Cloud). Responsible for daily support around multiple backend platforms and triaging monitoring issues for a wide range of technologies from Unified Communications, Servers, Network, Storage, Hypervisor etc. The team have direct input into industry leading applications and features that will support the development of the ‘front end’ as well as individual customer applications.

The Support Technician Apprentice will contribute to the decision making and decisions of the platforms and features as well as maintaining an ongoing awareness of emerging tools, technologies, and trends.

Diagnose and triage support issues for the monitoring systems used by the business
Undertake day-to-day admin across the systems
Help Engineer and implement monitoring solutions for customers
Help Develop features, interfaces, and automation for platforms
Train and teach customers with regards to the technology, processes, and procedures
Provide technical guidance and advice when required
Carry out any ‘ad hoc’ assignments as and when required
Remain compliant with health and safety company policy and legislation

Desired Qualities, Skills and Knowledge (not essential):

Proven experience of Linux and Windows Server
Demonstrable knowledge of SNMP
Demonstrable knowledge of WMI
Demonstrable knowledge of Python
Demonstrable knowledge of Groovy
Demonstrable knowledge of PowerShell
Experience / knowledge of Logic Monitor
Experience / knowledge of Databases (SQL and NoSQL)
Experience / knowledge of Cloud Platform knowledge
Experience / knowledge of Ansible
Experience / knowledge of Jenkins
