Our client BAI Communications is recruiting for an Apprentice Radio Frequency Engineer to join their team in London, W2.

The Company

It’s an exciting time to be part of BAI Communications. We have been awarded a 20-year contract by Transport for London (TfL) to deliver high-speed mobile connectivity across the capital in the largest infrastructure project of its type in the world. As part of the contract, BAI will build and operate a new advanced network enabling passengers to enjoy uninterrupted connected travel across the Tube for the first time. This will mean passengers can catch up on work, stream content, contact family and friends, and access social media while travelling. A full-fibre network will also be delivered that will connect to buildings and street assets, like traffic lights and lampposts that house small mobile transmitter cells to leverage the power of 5G and the Internet of Things.

The Position
Job Title: Apprentice Radio Frequency Engineer
Apprenticeship Course: Level 3 Information Communication Technician
Apprenticeship Duration: 18 months
Location: London W2
Working Hours: Monday to Friday 9 to 5.30
Salary: £21,500


Role and Responsibilities

Initially you will be on a guided learning path to gain exposure and first-hand experience into the incredibly exciting programme we are delivering for Transport for London. You will support the development of our Radio Frequency solution and support the system performance testing activities to ensure they adhere to and meet the required standards. You will work with the wider team on the implementation from conceptual design through to implementation and optimisation of service.

You will carry out RF designs
Complete survey reports
Perform RF modelling and design using iBWave
Liaise with the senior RF team to resolve design queries and interpret requirements, requests and translate to a working solution
Complete RAMS and abide by company H&S policy
Support the completion of any Handover Packs, Post Integration Reports and Design Reports on agreed timescales and report templates
Update any internal reporting systems as required

Desired Qualities, Skills and Knowledge:

Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work well independently or as part of a multidisciplinary team
Ability to multi-task
Customer focused, keeping the customer at the heart of all decision making.
Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
Experience using Microsoft Office, Excel, Word, Adobe Acrobat (PDF).
Experience in in-building design with iBwave would be advantageous
Minimum requirement of 5 GCSE’s
