Grounds and Facilities Supervisor
WWT Castle Espie Wetland Centre
37.5 hours per week - 5 days from 7
£22,015 per annum

Castle Espie is an exemplar of habitat restoration, sustainable design and green tourism. Our accessible wetland centre is home to the Island of Ireland’s largest collection of wildfowl including endangered species from around the world. Bird hides, nature walks and our sensory garden allow you to get closer to nature. Our award winning eco centre includes lecture theatres, soft play, shop, art gallery and Kingfisher restaurant with outstanding views over the internationally important nature reserve of Strangford Lough.

We are currently looking for an innovative and practical individual, with experience of buildings and grounds maintenance and development, and health and safety, to become our Grounds and Facilities Supervisor.

As our Grounds and Facilities Supervisor, you will need a hands-on approach, positive attitude and preferably some trade skills such as carpentry/plumbing/electrical work. You will work in a customer focused environment in a small team led by the Grounds and Facilities Manager, which is responsible for the maintenance and strategic development of our visitor centre and all other buildings and infrastructure. You will deputise for the Facilities Manager/Health & Safety Officer in their absence and have a proactive approach to ensure that the site develops and runs smoothly and safely.

The Wildfowl & Wetlands Trust (WWT) is a conservation charity that protects wetlands for wildlife and people. We conserve, restore and create wetlands. We are pioneers in saving wetland wildlife, both in the UK and around the world. At our 10 UK sites around a million visitors a year engage with wetland nature. We work internationally in key global wetland areas, balancing conservation with sustainable livelihoods and influencing national and international conservation policies.

In return for your hard work and dedication, you will enjoy a wide range of benefits including:

- 25 days’ annual leave plus bank holidays increasing to 30 days after 5 years’ service
- Contributory pension scheme (conditions apply)
- Life assurance
- Free car parking and secure bike storage areas
- Cycle to work scheme
- Free entry to all our centres

Closing date: 17th July 2022
Interview date: 25th July 2022

WWT is an equal opportunities employer and all applications will be considered solely on merit.
