Solution Support Engineer
Salary - up to £46,000
We are looking for a customer focused and enthusiastic individual to join the On-Prem Infrastructure team. You will have a passion for problem solving and delivering excellent 3rd Line customer support. You must posses good written and verbal communication skills and be able to work with all support teams and suppliers.
This role is strategically important in the continued development of IT Services in an Enterprise Server Management function that will include troubleshooting on all supported platforms. The successful candidate will be responsible for the delivery and maintenance of IT solutions to the end Customer.
This role is a full-time permanent position working a 9-day fortnight pattern.
The site benefits from a restaurant, coffee shop, parking and good public transport links.
Due to the nature of our client's work the successful candidate must be prepared to work on a nuclear licensed site & hold or be able to obtain DV Security Clearance. For this reason we are only able to progress with applications from British nationals.
Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
Day-to-Day support of the Server Environment including Patching, Image Config/Deployment, Server and Storage support
Config/Management, System Build, File Storage Management and System Administration
Operational Server Support and including troubleshooting of Windows, Storage & Backup environments as part of your team responsibilities
Ticket management for core operating systems
Maintain disaster recovery plans, regular review to ensure Disaster Recovery strategy aligns with business requirements. Oversight of Disaster Recovery validation on a regular basis
Essential skills / qualifications:
Experience of working in controlled Data Centre environments
Knowledge of Windows Server 2003/2008/2016, infrastructure experience, OS install and configuration and imaging
Knowledge of Windows Server 2003/2008/2016 Active Directory knowledge, understanding of Group Policies/DNS/DHCP/DFS
Proven knowledge of Hyper-V, VMWare & Citrix
Experience of DELL/HP Converged infrastructure Server/Storage and MS Storage spaces
Trained in or have knowledge of Cloud - Azure Infrastructure
Knowledge of Symantec NetBackup & MFA
Good Knowledge and understanding of Microsoft RDS, WSUS, SCCM, and SCOM
Hands on experience of supporting Operational activities & troubleshooting in all area of Windows, Storage and Backup infrastructure
Able to be proactive in the management, monitoring and troubleshooting of operational issues
Experience with producing technical documentation
Good understanding of HP/DELL server & storage concepts
Experience of general Application Support
Experience of Project Managing Statement into Business as usual
