Rehoming Centre Manager, Southampton rehoming centre
Fixed term contract until October 2023, full time

What is the role?
This is a fantastic and rare opportunity to work with a strong and experienced management team to deliver rehoming services at our centre based in Southampton. It goes without saying that we are looking for someone who is passionate about animal welfare and has experience of managing a team. We are looking for an inspiring leader who enjoys coaching and developing the team and can support them to build and maintain resilience in difficult times.

This role will suit someone who is a self-starter and enjoys the challenge of running all aspects of the centre. The ability to provide strong leadership guidance is critical as is the need to maintain a level head. This is a challenging role which provides opportunity to make a positive difference to the lives of pets. There will be tough days too but being able to see the bigger picture and approach the work with purpose will make this role rewarding.

The standard hours are 42 hours per week on a locally agreed rota to include weekends and bank holidays.

What is required?
We are looking for people with the following:
• Valid manual driving licence
• GCSE English and Maths or equivalent
• Significant experience of practical companion animal care
• Experience in an animal welfare environment or experience of re-homing pet animals
• Significant experience in team management
• Proven ability to recruit, induct, train and performance manage teams
• Business performance management
• Budget development and financial control
• Site management
• Delivering high standards of Customer Care
• Running efficient administration systems
• Managing Health and Safety including Risk Assessments and COSHH
• IT skills including MS Word/Excel/Outlook to intermediate level

It would also be great if you had:
• A recognised management qualification
• Employment in an animal welfare environment
• Working in a continuous improvement environment, and managing change
• Managing volunteers
• Working in a target focussed environment
• Successful project management
• Presentation skills for public speaking
• Management of animals under veterinary care
• Understanding of animal behaviour theory and current practice
• Running promotional events, maintaining good public relations and fundraising
