We are now looking for a Chef / Catering Assistant to join our team on a permanent, full-time basis, working 37.5 hours per week, Wednesday to Sunday and on Bank Holidays.

The Role

As a Chef / Catering Assistant, you will assist the catering manager with the daily operation of our café, including preparing fresh food and maintaining excellent hygiene and cleanliness standards.

Specifically, you will help in the development and preparation of changing seasonal menus, using fresh produce from our kitchen garden. You will also prepare a daily array of sweet treats such as cakes, scones and tray bakes.

Ensuring that the kitchen remains a clean and hygienic environment, you will organise and rotate stocks and deliveries, whilst following health and safety and COSHH procedures during your work.

About You

To be considered as a Chef / Catering Assistant, you will need:

- Food preparation, cooking, and presentation skills - especially those relevant to a healthy café setting
- Good, up-to-date knowledge of food hygiene and allergens
- Familiarity with the Food Standards Agency’s ‘Safer Food Better Business for Caterers’ guidelines
- Knowledge of First Aid in the workplace
- To be customer focused, with excellent communication skills
- A Level 2 Food hygiene certificate and the willingness to complete further training

Experience within the food service industry including customer service, food preparation, ordering, budgeting and stock control would be highly beneficial.

Ideally, you will have a Level 3 food hygiene certificate and a qualification relevant to the role.

This role will require the ability to work seasonal and weekend hours.
