Together with our network of partners, we provide free support, information, advice, financial assistance and services for horticulturalists and their loved ones experiencing illness, disability, bereavement, family breakdown and financial difficulties.

We have a real focus on improving the health and well-being outcomes of people working in horticulture and have an ambitious preventative strategy to create better futures for people working in horticulture.

We are now looking for a Barista / Cafe Assistant to join our team on a permanent, full-time basis, working 37.5 hours per week, Wednesday to Sunday and Bank Holidays.

The Role

As a Barista / Café Assistant, you will serve customers visiting our garden café with food and drinks, providing them with excellent customer service.

Supporting the Café Manager, you will assist in the preparation of food and drinks including coffees and speciality teas. You will ensure our food and drinks meet portion, temperature and quality controls.

Taking responsibility for the cleanliness of the café, you will ensure the service counter and area remains clean, tidy and inviting to our customers. At the end of service, you will clear down, support closing processes and ensure rubbish bags are emptied into the correct bins.

About You

To be considered as a Barista / Café Assistant, you will need:

- Experience in a customer service or customer care position
- Good interpersonal skills
- The ability to work seasonal and weekend hours as set out
- To be willing to carry jobs such as cleaning, litter removal etc.
- To be a passionate advocate for York Gate Garden
- To be willing to undertake food hygiene training

Ideally, you will have a Level 2 food hygiene certificate and a qualification or experience relevant to the role such as barista experience.
