At LPPA, we administer the pensions of over 600,000 Members from 1,900 different employers. These are across local government, police officers' and firefighters’ pension schemes.

We are currently seeking an Engagement Officer to join our growing Engagement and Communications team in Preston.

About the Employer Engagement Team
We are a dynamic, positive, and supportive team … but most of all friendly and helpful! As part of a growing Engagement, Marketing and Communications function, LPPA is an organisation with big ambitions, and with the number of employers we support increasing to over 2,000 in the next few months, we’re expanding our Employer Engagement team to ensure we continue to deliver to excellent levels of support.

Purpose (-%Purpose)

To support the Operations Manager - Employer Engagement, in the delivery of local government, police and fire pension scheme administration support to employers and external stakeholders. An important requirement of this role is to deliver consistently high quality employer engagement activities, together with client and reputational management on behalf of LPPA. This is achieved through various activities including online training programmes (covering pension administration processes, regulatory updates and ‘how to’ presentations of LPPA systems) and the ongoing resolution of employer queries.

Key Accountabilities (-%Key Accountabilities)

• To foster excellent relationships by maintaining clear communication, including the production of regular reports based on employer performance data, and undertaking regular client and employer visits in line with Service Level Agreements (SLAs)
• To support the Operations Manager - Employer Engagement to ensure that LPPA meets its legal obligations under pension scheme disclosure regulations and under the terms of SLAs
• To deliver presentations to relevant stakeholders as required and in line with SLAs
• To deliver employer training and awareness as appropriate and where specific needs are identified
• To help organise events, conferences and meetings as appropriate in line with SLAs, including pension support meetings, drop in sessions, employer conferences and roadshows
• To be aware of and have an understanding of the regulations relating to the pensions schemes under administration as well as overriding pension legislation
• Using employer performance data, prepare and present reports to internal and external clients and customers relating to pension administration, and highlight practical opportunities for improving performance
• To support the development and maintenance of the LPPA employer website in respect of pension administration, to help maintain the accuracy, integrity and relevancy of the website
• To test/survey employer satisfaction on a regular basis and drive improvements as a result
• Treat information security with the upmost respect, dealing appropriately with sensitive and confidential information

Person Specification (-%Person Specification)

• An enthusiastic, positive, self-motivated, professional and dynamic individual would be suited this role
• Practical experience in a Local Government pension scheme environment (including Blue Light Pension Scheme knowledge) is desirable but not essential
• Proven experience in a customer service / communications role
• Excellent presentation and written communication skills
• Proven ability to effectively present technical information to all levels, including presenting to large groups of people
• Excellent customer service skills
• Excellent negotiation skills
• An enthusiastic, positive, self-motivated and dynamic personality would suit this role
• Ability to use a variety of communications tools and media
• A recognised pension administration qualification (or working towards) would be desirable

• The salary range for this role is £24,000 - £30,000 depending on experience
