Deputy Headteacher

L10 - L14 (£60,701 - £66,114)
Start date: January 2023

The Michael Tippett School (TMTS) is a secondary school for young people aged 11-19 with complex learning needs, from Severe Learning Difficulties to Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties, many of whom are also on the Autistic Spectrum, have sensory needs or are physically disabled. TMTS provides a flexible, personalised curriculum and comprehensive support to meet their educational, physical and emotional needs as individuals.

Located in a purpose-designed, award-winning building in Loughborough Junction, the school is exceptionally well resourced and set up for the task. Its learning community reflects the rich diversity of the local area and comprises some 70 pupils and 50 staff supported by visiting professionals. Together with parents and carers, TMTS aims to help pupils make the best possible progress and achieve their full potential.

We seek a Deputy Headteacher to support our new Headteacher in delivering the highest possible educational standards and creating an atmosphere and structure that all stakeholders can invest in - where pupils feel valued and safe, where parents and carers feel supported and included, and where staff feel motivated and inspired to go the extra mile. The challenges are significant but the rewards for all involved are great, not least for the very special young people whose lives you will play a big part transforming.

You will need to be an experienced leader at senior management level with at least 5 year’s teaching experience of working with pupils with SEN, gained either in a special school or in a mainstream school with a resource provision for those with PMLD, SLD and ASD. You have experience in developing personalised curriculums leading to positive academic, social and personal outcomes for pupils with complex special needs and in taking the lead on pupil and statutory assessments.

TMTS is on the road to improvement following special measures and is currently in the process of converting to an academy. This will be discussed further at interview.

If you would like to discuss this opportunity informally or arrange a school visit please call the school office and speak to our New Head Teacher, Melanie Hall-Judd.

To apply, please click the apply now button and download an application pack or email the school and request a pack.

Closing date: 12 noon Thursday 29th September 2022
Shortlisting: Friday 30th September 2022
Interviews: Wednesday 12th and Thursday 13th October 2022
