Main purpose and scope of job
The Process Technician is responsible for the safe operation of the Allington Energy Recovery Facility. Reporting directly to the Operations Shift Manager, the Process Technician will coordinate and carryout the plant operational activities safely, efficiently and in line with FCC Environments procedures, whilst ensuring the facility is operationally compliant with the environment permit.

Duties and key responsibilities - Operational Perform supervisory responsibilities in accordance with FCC Environment policies, procedures and legislation. Operate the plant in a safe, environmentally compliant and in an efficient manner on a shift rotation basis. To include waste handling, boiler furnace, steam systems, fans, pumps, Steam Turbine Generator, ash handling, water treatment processes, conveyors, filter systems and valves etc. Carryout work in accordance with FCC Environments operational procedures and risk assessments. Perform the roles of competent person and authorised person in accordance with FCC Environment Safety Rules. • Carryout process and equipment fault diagnosis and rectification in area of specialism. Ensure all operational logs are complete and accurate, carryout shift handovers to oncoming operational shifts. • Carryout routine plant testing and demonstrate the ability to safely shutdown the facility in a controlled manner. Carryout front line maintenance to ensure plant reliability is maintained. The Process Technician will support operational H&S performance to include safety inspections, plant area responsibilities and partake in routine H&S meetings and forums. Support operational improvements to increase performance, while liaising with the shift operations, maintenance, cleaning and 1/0 teams. Support the management of corrective actions, defect notifications and rectification. Support the co-ordination plant maintenance activities to include removing plant from service, providing a safe system of work, and returning the plant to service. Take an active role in the control of operational consumable materials. Support workplace investigations and operational root cause analysis activities. • Support the development and implementation of operational strategies and recovery plans. • Support operational compliance to internal and external standards. Carry out company or specialist training. Trained First Aider. The ability to operate and interrogate complex Distributed Control Systems (DCS). Ability to operate large mobile plant and overhead cranes. During emergency situations the Process Technician will co-ordinate with the emergency services and perform the duties of a Fire Marshall whilst under the direction of the Shift Manager. Ensure the appropriate standards of housekeeping are maintained.

Experience
Experienced with distributed control systems (DCS) and/or SCADA systems • The Process Technician will be authorised (or working towards) to operate plant in an EFW facility. This role requires a broad technical background in either plant operations or maintenance. Preferably two years (2) experience, including practical experience with large boiler and rotating plant. Demonstrate understanding of the Environment Permit and emissions limits. Working with operational procedures and risk assessments. Experienced with Safety Rules and performing the duties as a competent and authorised person. Ability to perform front line maintenance. Some experience of DCS would be advantageous.

Essential Knowledge Satisfactory completion of the relevant Competency Management System modules. Completion of role specific training. The preferred level of education is to a Nation Vocational Qualification Level 3 or above in a technical or science subject, although relevant other qualifications with large process plant experience will be considered for the role. Completed IOSH Managing Safely training. • Computer skills related to Microsoft Office, Nisoft, Q4 and CMMS programs. Demonstrate clear effective team building, encouraging, motivation and value. Understand safe systems of work, safety rules, permit to work systems and plant isolations -training will be provided.
