The Company

This company is a unique piece of Civil Engineering software, providing one centralised core database that can be accessed by a key staff members at HQ as well as the customers mobile workforce.
By enabling the customers mobile workforce, the speed, accuracy and timing of getting information back from the field is dramatically increased.


The Position
Job Title: Apprentice Application Support Engineer
Apprenticeship Course: Level 3 Support Technician
Apprenticeship Duration: 18 Months
Location: 52 High St, Henley-in-Arden B95 5AN
Working Hours: Monday to Friday 9 to 5.30
Salary: £18,000


Role and Responsibilities

Due to continued growth, our client is currently seeking an Application Support Engineer to join their team based in Henley-In-Arden. The company provides Software Solutions to the Utilities sector, specialising in Telecoms. Working with several high-profile companies in the UK, there are many opportunities for the right individuals to shine. Provide technical support for several application systems
Respond to general questions and user tickets in a timely manner
Maintaining the quality and availability of IT services and products
Research, diagnose and troubleshoot application issues and resolve them in a timely manner
Identify common and re-occurring issues and identify potential long term solutions
Prioritise multiple, open issues
Assisting with acceptance integration and testing
Creating and running reports for business leaders and stakeholders
Working proactively to identify potential system issues
Maintain Support Documentation, including adding resolution information for new issues

Desired Qualities, Skills and Knowledge:

Excel/MS Access
Knowledge of SQL Server or other relational databases desirable but not essential
Knowledge of the industry (Power, Gas) desirable but not essential
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Good problem-solving skills and the ability to co-ordinate multiple teams to find solutions for technical challenges
Critical thinking skills and an open-minded mentality for new ideas
Investigation and diagnostic skills
Communication skills and active listening
Empathy with users
Acceptance of ownership
Patience and understanding
Attention to detail and ability to maintain a high level of accuracy
Excellent data analysis skills
Proficiency in various computer applications
