Royal Voluntary Service hospital cafés, shops and trolleys are part of the fabric of the NHS and a real asset in their own right. The Role

Working alongside a friendly team, you will participate in the day-to-day running of our shop and café in Foss Park Hospital.

In this busy role, you will:

- Support the Retail Manager in running the site efficiently and effectively
- Deliver a friendly, helpful and efficient customer service
- Maintain a high level of cleanliness, complying with Health and Safety and food hygiene standards and ensuring all areas of the site remain tidy
- Support the recruitment and co-ordination of volunteers and employees
- Assist with stock ordering, deliveries and controls
- Evaluate performance and provide feedback for team members

Working Hours

This is a fixed term contract of three months, on a part-time basis working 30 hours per week from Monday to Friday.

Our retail sites can be open on weekends and bank holidays. There may also be opportunities for paid overtime in busy periods or to cover absence.

What you’ll need

Working in a hospital requires a special kind of customer service. Your ability to communicate with a variety of people in a friendly and cheerful way will make a real difference to someone’s day. The key is to adapt your approach to each person to ensure their needs are met.

To join us as a Deputy Retail & Café Manager, you will need:

- Experience at supervisory level within a similar retail environment
- Knowledge of EPOS systems
- Knowledge and experience of general administrative processes
- Excellent customer service skills
- Ability to proficiently use standard IT systems
- Good literacy and numeracy skills
