Duties and key responsibilities - Operational
To ensure that the Transfer Station and MRF mobile plant is operated in a safe and efficient way. Carry out mobile plant activities as required with the primary plant being loading shovel.
Duties include:
• Completing daily start up inspections of mobile plant. Recording results on the inspections sheets and informing the site supervisor of any defects.
• Ensuring mobile plant is kept is a clean condition by washing down regularly.
• Undertaking light maintenance of machines including greasing as per machine specifications and clearing debris on a regular basis and in accordance with company safe working practice.
• Ensuring good housekeeping within the work area throughout the day and at the end of the day.
• Enforcing traffic management
• Ensuring health and safety aspects are being adhered to and recording any near misses which arise.
• Ensuring that customer vehicles are tipped in line with turnaround time requirements
• Loading vehicles as required for the onward transportation of waste.
• Ensure waste being loaded is rotated to ensure that it does not excess the maximum storage limitation as set out in the site license.
• Liaising with other site operatives regarding the movement of waste.
• Liaising with supervisor to ensure that waste is moved efficiently and as required
• Monitoring fuel usage and reporting to site supervisor when resources are running low.
• Assisting with other machine operator and site operative duties when necessary
Any other duties deemed necessary to meet the needs of the business.

Experience
• Qualified machine operator - experience in operating a loading shovel essential, current license desirable.

Essential Knowledge
Satisfactory completion of the relevant Competency Management System modules.
Completion of all other training as defined within the Training Matrix.
