Ocean Freight Business Development Manager
Manchester or London (with hybrid working in the UK)

We are now looking for two Ocean Freight Business Development Managers to join us on a permanent, full-time basis, based in Manchester or London (working two to three days in the office with two to three days of visiting customers or working remotely).

The Role

As an Ocean Freight Business Development Manager, you will be responsible for identifying and acquiring new clients in the ocean freight sector.

Developing a targeted management plan, you’ll build strong relationships with new customers and maintain a rolling pipeline of potential clients to gain new business and target new trade lanes.

You’ll act as the main point of contact for UK ocean freight enquiries, supporting the ocean freight management team to identify new opportunities and ensuring that customer requirements and expectations are clearly understood.

Additionally, you will:

- Accurately maintain the CRM system
- Carry out quantitative and qualitative reporting
- Present ocean freight webinars and share market intel

About You

To be considered as an Ocean Freight Business Development Manager, you will need:

- Sales experience in a multi-national freight forwarding company
- The ability to identify market leads and convert them into business opportunities
- Excellent knowledge of the UK ocean freight market
- Excellent stakeholder influencing skills
- Commercial acumen
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- A full, valid driving licence

A degree or equivalent would be beneficial to your application, as would a professional sales training or completion of a professional selling training course.
