The opportunity

We must have seas that support abundant marine wildlife, sustain livelihoods and can unlock the investment in marine solutions for the climate crisis.

We have big ambitions and to make these changes we need you to join our Fundraising team and lead the strategy and people who are responsible for our major and legacy gifts fundraising and the community and individual giving programmes.

This is an exciting opportunity to have real impact in your role - your skills in building and sustaining relationships, and your confidence to talk about fundraising requests are the key elements in your successful track record of securing 5 and 6 figure donations.

What you’ll do

- You’ll develop cultivation plans for a wide range of donor, fundraiser and supporter relationships, and build compelling proposals that appeal to donor’s interests, and support the crucial work our teams are doing for the marine environment.
- Manage relationships with current donors and approach new networks and donors with compelling cases for support to ensure the delivery of agreed fundraising targets.
- Manage the Major Gift, Legacy & Community & Individual team and support staff, including recruitment, management, personal and professional development, budgetary control and contract procurement.

What you’ll need

- Proven ability to cultivate, recruit and manage high net worth individuals.
- Writing skills that produce compelling and inspiring cases for support and update reports.
- Personal presence that inspires, with the confidence to make a fundraising request.
- Track-record of hitting challenging income targets and securing 5 and 6 figure donations.
- Passion for our vision for a cleaner, better protected, healthier ocean - and able to convey this effectively to supporters.
- An up-to-date understanding of fundraising and data protection regulations, and experience of working with CRM databases.
