The Role
This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic individual to join the Engagement Diversity team within the Peak District National Park Authority. We are looking to appoint a motivated person to deliver volunteer activities that support the delivery of the National Park Management Plan, Authority Volunteer Plan, and Diverse Audience Plan. The Volunteer and Diversity Team connect will 2500+ individuals annually, promoting opportunities for the understanding and enjoyment of the special qualities of the National Park and the health and wellbeing benefits it offers. This will be achieved through a programme of targeted practical and enjoyable activities supporting the conservation and enhancement of the natural beauty, wildlife and cultural heritage.

In the role you will be responsible for:
• Assist in the development and delivery of a programme of conservation related projects that create volunteer opportunities for young people and those from underserved communities to connect with and enjoy the National Park.
• Deliver commercial volunteer opportunities in line with income target, through practical conservation and access improvement work with groups, corporate volunteering and volunteer work parties.

This role will operate across the Peak District National Park working with landowners, partners and Peak District Teams; operational bases split between Pump Farm (Warslow Estate) and Brunts Barn (Grindleford). A vehicle and trailer will be available for use of role.

The job will include regular weekend working with an additional allowance paid, maximum 2 in 4 weekend rotas with rest days during the week.
Post-holder must have the ability to travel to meetings and events as required by the duties of the post.

About You
The successful applicant will be involved in many practical aspects of conservation and access improvement work including pond clearance, drystone walling, tree planting, fencing, and access works, sites are extremely varied and at times remote.
You should hold certificates of competency or be willing to train in chainsaw, brushcutting, off road driving, trailers, general hand tool use with groups and some other practical skills as required.
Hold a qualification in Countryside Management, or significant related experience, specifically, delivery and supervision of conservation groups; have a good understanding of landscape and nature conservation management and public access. An ability to travel in between sites at short notice and drive site vehicles is essential.
You will be reliable and possess good organisational and interpersonal skills and have a positive attitude towards customer care. The post involves developing projects and engaging with diverse community groups, volunteers and young people.
It is important the successful candidate is able to work alone and as a member of a team with experience in training and supervision of volunteers. To show initiative and be able to plan own work.
