About Us

Our purpose is simple, to save lives at sea. Since the 19th century, our crews have been risking their lives to save those who are in danger of drowning. We’re looking for a Regional Estates Manager to join our North East region. We have six regions around the UK and Republic of Ireland. The Regional Estates Team supports the RNLI through providing and maintaining buildings and marine infrastructure to the volunteers and staff who carry out and support our front-line lifesaving services.

Your Role

As a Regional Estates Manager, you will report to the RNLI’s Principal Estates Manager who is based at the Support Centre in Poole but you will also be part of the Regional Leadership Team as the region’s subject matter expert on management of our estate. You will be one of six Regional Estates Managers that manage the RNLI’s estate across the UK and Republic of Ireland. You will be tasked with focus on the following areas:

- Lead and provide specialist advice on all RNLI buildings, civil engineering construction and maintenance related projects across RNLI’s North and East Estate from Berwick-Upon-Tweed to Burnham-on-Crouch
- As part of the Regional Leadership Team execute a strategy for the RNLI’s infrastructure and assets. In doing so you will demonstrate the highest levels of collaborative working and collective responsibility
- Manage and develop a team of Coastal Estates Managers and act as the primary Estates lead within the North and East region
- Supervise your team to deliver building inspections, support new construction activity, undertake condition-based maintenance, repairs and compliance checks
- Support the development of the estate elements of the Regional strategy in association with the Regional Engineering and Supply Lead
- Working closely with the RNLI’s Poole based Estates Engineers to support them delivering construction projects in your region
- Project manage the client side aspects of a small number of capital projects such as new marine infrastructure or Lifeboat Stations
- Develop and implement through your team of Coastal Estates Manager a best-in-class through-life programme of routine maintenance works, specifically focusing on, compliance, quality, sustainability, value for money and risk management
- Prepare and manage the delegated capital expenditure and operational expenditure budgets for the Regional Estate and ensure that the management of the estate is delivered to plan and within budget
- To give the relevant specialist subject matter expertise / advice when required across all regions and ensure standards are met
- To take the lead for regional activities such as mooring installation and repair campaigns

About You

You’ll be an effective self-motivated team player, with good communication and influencing skills both internally and externally. You’ll be familiar with a variety of buildings and plant, their design, production and support. Ideally, you’ll have some maritime experience and will relish the challenge of resolving practical and technical queries outside of your comfort zone.

To be considered as the Regional Estates Manager you will need:

- Essential - An Engineering/construction/buildings management or other job relevant degree qualification equivalent to the England, Wales & Northern Ireland qualification level 6 or higher as defined by UK government, is required.
- Desirable - Member of, or working towards a professional body such as CIOB, ICE or RICS
- Specialist construction knowledge and experience of asset inspection and routine maintenance works at a professional level
- Extensive experience of building and civil construction and maintenance, ideally in a maritime environment
- Experience of working in a commercial and continuous improvement environment, implementing new and innovative processes and procedures
- Live within or close to the North and East Region in the area between Berwick-Upon-Tweed and Burnham-on-Crouch
