About Us

Brecon Beacons National Park Authority protects the natural beauty, wildlife and cultural heritage of Brecon Beacons National Park.

We are now looking for Senior Planning Officer to join us on a permanent, full-time basis working 37 hours per week.

The Role

As a Senior Planning Officer, you will support development management activities within the Brecon Beacons National Park, in line with our Management Plan objectives.

Supporting the decision-making process, you will undertake initial site inspections, draft reports and follow Planning Committee guidelines to inform appropriate decisions.

In this key role, you’ll respond to enquiries from agents, applicants and the public, as well as representing the National Park Authority at public inquires and hearings.

Additionally, you will:

- Investigate breaches of planning control with Enforcement Officers
- Process new farm, forestry buildings and road notifications
- Attend Community Council meetings

About You

To be considered as a Senior Planning Officer, you will need:

- A minimum of two years' development management experience
- Knowledge of planning policy, related legislation and procedures
- The ability to effectively organise your workload
- The ability to organise meetings with appropriate follow-up work
- The ability to research, interpret and analyse a variety of complex data
- Good communication, interpersonal and report writing skills

Ideally, you will have membership of the RTPI and familiarity with Sustainability Appraisals.

A full, valid driving licence would be beneficial to your application, as would a Level 1 Welsh language qualification.
