- ABOUT US -
The Institute of Inner City Learning (IICL) is one of the University of Wales Trinity Saint David’s four Institutes with campuses in Birmingham and London.

The IICL has multiple intakes per annum, delivers continuous learning, teaching and recruitment cycles and operates in an intensely competitive inner-city and multicultural HE environment. The Institute
currently has approx. 4,000 non-residential students on Certificates of Higher Education, Honours degrees, Masters and Doctoral programmes, some of which are also taught at weekends.

- THE ROLE -
The main purpose of the post is to provide professional career education, information, advice and guidance (CEIAG) to students and graduates of the University. The post holder will design and deliver group presentations, workshops and seminars and provide advice and guidance to individual students. The organisation of relevant careers events will also be responsibility for the post holder. The post holder will be expected to work in close collaboration with the careers team, academics and external stakeholders such as employers.

The Careers Adviser will have responsibility for working with the Institute of Inner-City Learning courses in London. Please note we are currently located at Winchester House, Oval. Please note the role is for a weekend delivery.

Main duties will include:
• Provide high-quality careers education, information, advice and guidance (CEIAG) to students and graduates
• To deliver structured one-to-one appointments and drop-in sessions, utilizing the most relevant and up-to-date labour market information and careers resources available
• Assist students and graduates in the preparation of application forms, CV’s, applications for postgraduate study and in the development of successful interview skills
• Work with academic staff to identify ways in which the Careers Service can contribute to the development of employability within their programmes
• Pro-actively develop and maintain specialist knowledge of industry developments, labour market trends and career pathways relevant to the programmes where the adviser holds specific responsibility
• Design and deliver tailored career-related workshops and lectures as required
• Liaise and engage with national professional organisations in relation to careers education, information, advice and guidance and participate in training where required
• Contribute to team delivery of marketing plan and social media content
• Work in close collaboration with the wider Student Services team, making referrals where needed
• Maintain up-to-date records of all careers appointments using the prescribed reporting system
• Contribute to regular peer assessment and feedback, supporting colleagues in maintaining and developing up-to-date skills

- REQUIREMENTS -
You will need to:
• Be educated to HND or degree level
• Part 2 of the Diploma / Qualification in Career Guidance OR NVQ Level 4 in Advice and Guidance OR AGCAS Postgraduate Diploma in CEIG HE

You should also have:
• Previous experience of providing high quality career information, education, advice and guidance in a one-to-one setting
• Previous experience of devising and delivery of group careers sessions to students and graduates
• Previous experience of working successfully with a range of external clients e.g. employers and professional bodies
• Ability to explain complex issues to a range of clients and colleagues both in writing and orally
• Excellent IT and digital literacy skills with the ability to analyse and interpret data
• Ability to understand diverse student needs whilst having the commercial awareness to broaden horizons and raise aspirations
