A busy and established medical practice, our client is situated in the town of Yeovil on the Somerset/Dorset border. They are now seeking a Medical Secretary and Practice Support Team Member to join their team and contribute to the care environment and administrative running of their operation on a full-time, permanent basis.

The Role

As a Medical Secretary and Practice Support Team Member, you will support the administrative activities of our client’s surgery.

Providing general assistance to the practice team, you will project a positive and friendly image to patients and other visitors, either in person or by telephone.

Specifically, your role will involve:

- Completing and monitoring all referrals
- Sending booking letters to patients
- Processing requests for copies of records and raising related invoices
- Dealing with general enquires
- Checking stock levels and placing orders accordingly

About You

To be considered as a Medical Secretary and Practice Support Team Member, you will need:

- Experience of audio transcription
- Experience of working in a busy office environment
- Experience of using a clinical medical system, or similar
- Appropriate IT knowledge including experience of Microsoft Office software
- Experience of dealing with the public and/or patients
- The ability to listen and empathise
- An understanding, acceptance and adherence to the need for strict confidentiality
- A minimum of five GCSEs or equivalent, including Maths and English

Customer care training and/or an NVQ 3/AMSPAR qualification would be advantageous, as would experience of using Emis Web.

Knowledge of primary care in the NHS and experience of NHS eReferrals would also be beneficial.
