We are now looking for a Senior Lecturer in Psychology to join our Swansea campus on a full time, permanent basis working 37 hours per week.

- THE ROLE -
You will be located within the Academic Discipline of Psychology and Counselling. You will be under the line management of the Academic Director but will be expected to contribute to programmes at both undergraduate and postgraduate level across the discipline and wider Institute (where appropriate).

You will be expected to make a substantial strategic contribution to the work of the new UWTSD Centre for Children and Young People’s Mental Wellbeing and to undertake scholarship, research, training or project work, either individually or within a team, to support the Centre and to enhance the profile of the wider School, Faculty and University. You will also be required to develop internal and external collaborative relationships and to contribute to programme developments, teaching and assessment related (but not exclusively) to children and young people’s health and wellbeing.

You will offer both academic and pastoral feedback and support to a diverse range of learners to the highest professional standards and with regard to the ongoing enhancement of the student experience. You will make a positive contribution to the day to day activities of the Discipline that may cover areas such as research supervision, student recruitment, marketing activities, research seminars and workshops, staff training and professional development.

- ABOUT YOU -
To be considered as a Senior Lecturer in Psychology you will need:
- Good honours degree in Psychology or closely-related subject
- A PhD or professional doctorate in one of the following recognised BPS specialisms: educational psychology, counselling psychology, clinical psychology, health psychology.
- Registered with, or working towards registration with, the BPS/HCPC or equivalent.
- Demonstrable psychological expertise in an area linked to children and young people’s health and wellbeing.
- Proven track record of working in/with a range of relevant applied professional settings
- Previous experience of teaching and supervision at undergraduate and/or postgraduate level
- Current knowledge of professional competencies and pathways in applied psychology specialisms
- Ability to enhance the discipline’s research and externality strategy
- Ability to work across different teams and take the lead on strategic initiatives.
- Demonstrable commitment to equality and diversity in working practices
- Willingness to work flexibly to meet role requirements

The following would be beneficial to your role:
- Teaching qualification
- Experience of academic programme administration and management
- Proven track record of publication and grant funding in a relevant research area
- Previous experience of postgraduate research supervision in related subject areas.
- Previous experience of successfully delivering strategic objectives
- Evidence of ability to balance competing pressures of teaching, scholarship, research, administrative demands and deadlines
- The ability to, or willingness to develop, basic competencies in the use basic greetings etc in Welsh would be helpful in this post.
