Blue Cross is one of the UK’s leading animal welfare organisations for animals. We are a charity that supports sick, injured, and homeless pets and care for more than 40,000 animals every year through our rehoming, veterinary and education programs. The help we offer includes veterinary treatment, finding loving new homes for pets, behavioural advice, support with pet bereavement and education for future generations.

About the role

This role is all about supporting community-based projects which improve the lives of people and pets with our client’s dignity at the heart of everything we do.

No pet should have to go hungry. And no one should have to choose between feeding themselves or feeding their pets. Hard times can happen to anyone, and with pets in the family there are more bowls to fill when money is tight.

Following the success of our five Blue Cross pet food banks and our partnerships with 66 human Food Banks we are now looking to open more pet food banks across the UK to provide support for people in short term crisis.

This is an exciting and vital role in our team and plays an instrumental part in setting up a national pet food bank service.

Using excellent communication skills, the role of the Community Project Coordinator will include initiating and maintaining effective relationships with local suppliers, authorities, and communities within their areas to build the foodbanks, securing donations and overseeing logistics.

You will collaborate closely with colleagues by providing feedback from frontline delivery to develop projects that meet the needs of the public and our partners.

To help run the foodbanks we will need the support of a new volunteering team; the Community Project Coordinator will be responsible for recruiting and managing their team and providing them will all the support they need to conduct their role.
