Main purpose and scope of job

Responsible for the Project Management of equipment/process upgrades to involve development of the overall project brief, design stage risk assessment, involvement of key stake holders, capital justification/application, tender specification, installation, commissioning, defect rectification and documentation implementation within the document control system and the CMMS.

Implementation and development of the site CMMS to involve direct liaison with the Maintenance Manager, Planner, DCS/Controls/Mechanical/Projects Engineers, Maintenance Team Leaders and the Maintenance teams.

To assist in the strategic development of the maintenance philosophy at Allington by implementing new maintenance techniques and procedures directed at increasing the overall plant availability in line with budget expectations.

To be a key member of the front line maintenance department when required to ensure the effective operation of the plant. This may involve direct supervision/liaison with the maintenance team and additional sub-contractors.

To deputise for the Maintenance Manager when required. To deputise for the Maintenance Team Leaders when required.

Budget responsibility as specified.

Duties and key responsibilities - Operational

1. Health & Safety

• Ensure that all activities within the Allington site are carried out in a safe manner in line with FCC safety policy and all Health & Safety statutory requirements.
• Carry out risk assessments to ensure activities are completed in a safe manner at all times.
• Working as part of a team striving for continual improvement in minimising Health & Safety risk at the Allington EFW plant.
• Ensure visitors/subcontractors attending the site are inducted in the site safety and emergency procedures.
• Ensure that the sites housekeeping standards are achieved and developed
• Will act as the Authorised / Nominated Person within the limits of their competence when required to carry out work safely.
• The ideal electrical candidate will have responsibility for the electrical distribution network at the Allington site including all High Voltage supplies and High Voltage switch gear. The candidate will also at times be required to travel to other EFW sites within the group to provide technical advice and assistance where needed.
• The ideal electrical candidate will be responsible for all periodic electrical testing to include all testing to conform to the 18th Edition of the Electrical Wiring Regulations, PAT testing and all inspections of electrical systems that fall under “the good customer practice” banner.

2. Plant development

• To implement equipment upgrades and replacement in line with the agreed process priorities
• To assist in the implementation and development of the site documentation system
• To be a key member in the planning, execution and completion of the annual planned outages on each of the 3 lines
• Management and responsibility of the plant statutory inspections for all three boilers, common systems and auxiliary equipment

3. Team working

• To be directly involved when required in managing the maintenance team with the focus on motivation and people values.
• Manage and contribute towards the team effort, encouraging team spirit and provide assistance to others.

• Maintain and develop industrial relations through effective communications.
• Carry out development discussions with team members.

Experience

• Ideally a minimum of 5 previous years’ experience from within the Power, Paper, Cement or Energy from Waste industries.
• Project Management experience ideally using Microsoft Project
• Previous CMMS experience, ideally Q4
• Experience with preventative/predictive maintenance techniques
• Ideally experience of root cause analysis and maintenance/fault finding analysis techniques such as FEMECA and Kepner tregoe
• Ideally understanding and experience of CDM
• Experience with high voltage transformers and switch gear.
• The Electrical Engineer will also have specific experience with instrumentation and control systems to include Siemens PLC’s, DCS and all forms of level, temperature, pressure and flow control.

Essential Knowledge

• Satisfactory completion of the relevant Competency Management System modules.
• Completion of all other training as defined within the Training Matrix.
• Ideally Degree qualified (ideally in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering) but extensive relevant proven experience will be taken into consideration.
• Ideally holding an IOSH/NEBOSH safety accreditation
