Job Description

Who are we looking for?

A great opportunity has risen in UKAEA for an Electrical Technician to join a team of talented Technicians. Part of your role will be to provide electrical technician support to the Buildings & Facilities Management Department, focussed on ensuring timely maintenance is performed on a wide range of electrical equipment across the Culham site.

As an Electrical Technician, you will play a key role in providing supervision, guidance & support to the M&E Term contractor, or any others employed, to deliver electrical maintenance on behalf of B&FM, ensuring compliance against the relevant legislation, British Standards, codes of practice, and industry best practice at all times.

To be successful in this role you will need to have an excellent working knowledge of relevant legislation, codes of practice, British Standards, and industry best practices and an L3 qualification in electrical installation. What will you be responsible for?

- An important member of the team tasked with managing the UKAEA Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
- Providing supervision and support to the M&E maintenance teams to include creation, implementation and timely approval of Safe Systems of Work (SSoW).
- Ensuring timely remedial actions are taken for faults or issues discovered during maintenance.
- Technically approve or dispute maintenance outputs, providing clear, unambiguous and ‘actionable’ explanations for the decisions made.

Qualifications

Essential skills, experience and competence required

- Time-served electrical technician with a L3 qualification in electrical installation.
- Qualified to 18th Edition Wiring Regulations.
- Demonstrable knowledge of electrical maintenance techniques and industry best-practice.
- Excellent working knowledge of relevant legislation, codes of practice, British Standards, and industry best practice.
- Experience in the planning, delivery, and supervision of electrical maintenance.
- Demonstrable experience in the supervision and setting to work M&E contracted staff to include reviewing and approving written SSoW.
- Experience of operating and updating CMMS software.

Desirable skills, experience and competence

- C&G 2391 or equivalent Qualification in Electrical Inspection & Testing.
- Ability to perform the role of Nominated Person (Electrical), NP(E).
