We are currently recruiting for Transport Planner - SUT (Shared User Transport) to provide support to the Operations Transport Planning Team. As a Transport Planner, you will provide an effective operational plan which allows for the successful execution of the depot and contract delivery requirements, ensuring best use of resources in line with SLA’s and budget to keep costs low and customer satisfaction high.

The position will offer a salary of up to 30,000 GBP per annum, working Monday to Friday, 10am-18.30pm and will be based in Northampton, Grange Park 3 (NN4 5FB).

Main Responsibilities
• Plan volume & resource in a timely, legislatively compliant manner. Share relevant information as necessary, to relevant stakeholders.
• Optimise staffing levels required to achieve successful execution. Provide operational support to colleagues as and when required.
• Identify and communicate areas of improvement across the network.
• Provide clear and timely communication to all required stakeholders of proposed route plans and associated requirements, ensuring all potential concerns / reservations are addressed.
• Building cost effective, deliverable, compliant and safe loads for onward delivery by a mix of dedicated equipment and approved sub-contract hauliers.
• Establish and maintain good customer relationships, acting as the key customer contact for order requests and processing.
• Ensuring that professional and effective communication is always maintained.
• Identify and recommend appropriate resolutions to customer queries or failures.
• Continuously look to improve processes and procedures to drive efficiency and improvement in business operation and customer service.
• Responsibility for transport plans to optimising core fleet utilisation and close management of sub-contract haulage costs are in line with SLA agreed rates and identification of exceptional spend Out of Scope requests are identified and these can then be recovered accordingly.


Key Requirements
• Experience in a logistics in the same or similar role.
• A good knowledge of Road Traffic and drivers’ hours Legislation.
• Strong problem solving skills and the ability to think laterally.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills
• IT literate, experience of TMS, specifically ESP an advantage.
• Good level of education, including written and spoken English. Good Geographical knowledge of the UK.
• The ability to relay information clearly and concisely to the relevant audience.
• The ability to remain calm and professional when dealing with challenging situations. Delivering effective customer service internally and externally with YLUK at the forefront of all decision making.
• Demonstrate the ability to take a proactive approach with regards to all elements of ensuring the ultimate attainment of the team aim.
• Must be able to drive as hybrid working is not an option due to the nature of the role. The role may also occasionally require some travel to other sites.
• Must be flexible and adaptable and able to think on your feet.
