Blind Veterans UK helps vision-impaired ex-Service men and women of every generation rebuild their lives after sight loss. Since 1915, we’ve provided rehabilitation, training, practical advice and emotional support to tens of thousands of blind veterans.

We are now looking for a reliable and enthusiastic Healthcare Assistants to join our friendly care team. As a Healthcare Support, you will provide a high standard of holistic care for members and other beneficiaries. Applicants should be highly motivated with a willingness to learn. If successful you will be part of the well-established team including nurses, rehabilitation practitioners, operational administrators, housekeepers, catering and transport.

Healthcare Support provide a care service to all members and other beneficiaries within the Care Department and to visiting members and other beneficiaries who stay at the Llandudno Centre for a holiday, training or respite care. Our aim is to provide the highest standard of care in a safe, caring and excellent way, ensuring that care provision is collaborative, holistic and individualised. This includes providing hands on care, assisting with personal care, serving food and feeding where necessary, washing and assisting with dressing.

Other duties will include arranging and escorting members on trips, assisting with writing and reading personal correspondence. In addition, you will be required to risk assess, write care plans and daily care notes, evaluate the care delivered and liaise with other medical professionals.

You must be confident and friendly and have good communication and interpersonal skills. Previous care experience is preferred as well as a good understanding of the role and responsibilities of a Healthcare Assistant. An NVQ Level 2 in Care (or equivalent) is essential.

This position will be subject to an Enhanced DBS check.
