Assistant Maintenance Fitter

Salary: Starting from £22,630, rising to £24,144. Appointments at Grade 4, spine point 12 will receive a supplement to ensure a minimum hourly pay rate equivalent to £11.67 per hour.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Assistant Maintenance Fitter to join the Campus Infrastructure team at the University of Bath, the Times University of the Year 2023!

About the role:

The role is to support the mechanical fitters to undertake planned and reactive maintenance.

The primary focus is on industrial and commercial equipment, such as:
- Air handling units
- Supply and extract systems
- Refurbishment of large pumps and motors

The work will also involve repair tasks across the range of plumbing building services to include:
- Hot and cold-water systems
- Sanitary ware
- Internal plumbing
- Drainage services

This role is offered on a full time (36.5 hours per week) permanent basis. Hours of working will fall between 08:00 and 18:00, to be worked flexibly as required by operational needs, Monday to Friday.

About you:

We would like to hear from you if you:

- Have a knowledge of fabrication and basic machining
- Are familiar with and happy to work in the built environment, able to identify and remedy a variety of maintenance tasks and keep all affected informed of the situation
- Have a flexible approach to work and a willingness to undertake training to improve knowledge
- Are committed to the role and able to work individually and as part of a team
- Have good problem solving, customer service and communication skills
