- The Ion Beam Centre led by Professor Rebecca Seviour

And several further centres including:

- Centre for Cyber Security led by Professor Simon Parkinson
- Centre for Audio and Psycho-acoustic Engineering led by Dr. Hyunkook Lee

The quality and power of our research was recognised in the most recent REF assessment: in Engineering 80% and in Computer Science 75% of our research outputs were rated as internationally excellent or better; 50% of our impact in Engineering was rated as world leading. Many of our publications submitted to REF2021 were with international collaborators and we seek to extend this further.

We have strategic partnerships for educational provision in China and the Gulf. We have invested £10m since 2021/22 in our research and teaching facilities and this commitment to excellence will continue with our opening of Civil Engineering in 2024.

We seek an internationally excellent researcher, either an established professor or an experienced Reader (Associate Professor) on a strong research growth trajectory. You will be expected to lead the School’s internationalisation portfolio which includes international student recruitment, student experience, developing trans-national educational partnerships and supporting the development of academics’ international profile and research partnerships. You will become a member of the School’s Senior Management Team and will be expected to play an active role in the leadership of the School.

You will, like all members, receive the full support of the School to continue to grow your research profile with access to strategic investment funds, PhD scholarships, protected time and our own research support office.

Our School has a diverse community and is committed to Athena SWAN principles and the promotion of equality and diversity and is proud to hold a Bronze Athena SWAN Award.
