The Role:-

Having recently launched our bold and ambitious Council Plan 2022-26 and restructured our Customer and Corporate Services directorate, Watford Borough Council are looking to recruit to a new Digital Improvement Officer role, experienced in designing and supporting digital services, to join our well-established Digital Improvement Team. This is a diverse and exciting role, providing you with the opportunity to utilise a wide range of skills while contributing to the council in three key areas:

- Website
- Digital Forms
- Business Intelligence

You will use the council’s content management system and web governance software to create, improve and maintain high quality content in a way which is accessible. While ensuring that content for our statutory services remains user friendly, easy to digest and up-to-date, there is potential in the coming months to take a creative approach towards designing content for services or themes which the council wishes to promote.

By working with service areas and members of the public, you will use our govService software to build digital interactions which increase both convenience for the user and efficiency for members of staff. We are well into our digitisation journey at Watford, but still have a large number of processes which we will be continuing to move online in the medium term.

You will use our Business Intelligence software to design and maintain dashboards for services, providing them with their key performance information and the data they need to make decisions.

There is a large scope for variation in this interesting and challenging role. While managing a varied and evolving set of assignments, you will be a key upholder of the team’s core values of customer focus and continuous improvement.

What we are looking for:-

We are looking for a candidate who is able to work well with a range of stakeholders, placing customers at the heart of everything that we do while working and guiding others on a journey to design and deliver services that meet our customers’ needs. You will share responsibility for ensuring that:

- Our modern website remains innovative, relevant and up-to-date
- Our forms are slick and well designed, providing users with an efficient, smooth experience
- Through customer insight and data, our leaders have the tools identify improvements to our services on behalf of Watford residents, and those we welcome to our town

You should have a strong customer focus, enjoy the dynamics of working in a small team and have a proactive and innovative approach towards problem solving and implementing solutions.

We have recently opened our new agile and collaborative working space and have embraced an agile approach to work whereby officers work at locations according to need, rather than having to be in the office for a set number of days a week. We are therefore looking for a motivated individual who thrives on working in a fast paced environment at the very centre of an ambitious and forward looking organisation. Watford is a council that thinks big and we need experienced professionals who will be integral to use delivering our ambition to provide the very best for the residents and businesses of our town.

As a member of our Digital Improvement Team within our wider Customer and Corporate Services directorate, you will play a key role in facilitating the thinking of others, ensuring that we take a collaborative and imaginative approach when overcoming problems and designing solutions.

So, if you want to get involved with a portfolio of exciting projects and work within a progressive and innovative council, we want to hear from you.
